About the Book
One of Singapore’s most acclaimed multidisciplinary artists, Tan Swie Hian is accomplished in both visual arts and literature. In November 2016, the National Library Board, Singapore launched the exhibition “Anatomy of a Free Mind: Tan Swie Hian’s Notebooks and Creations”. This commemorative publication of the same name showcases the impressive breadth of Tan’s work – from painting to sculpture to poetry and translations – and more importantly their depth, as seen through his personal notebooks. The publication also features Tan’s never-before-published personal journals containing handwritten notes and sketches that provide intimate glimpses into his “free mind”.
