Unveiled on 2 March 1957, the Kranji War Memorial honours over 25,000 men and women from Singapore, Britain, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, India, Malaya, the Netherlands and New Zealand who gave up their lives in the line of duty defending Singapore during the Second World War. Today, memorial services are held twice annually there - on the Sunday closest to Remembrance Day on 11 November, and on ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Day on 25 April.
