Professor Yu Chun Yee Performs on the Chappell Grand

"Chopin's Nocturne in E-flat Major (Op. 9, No. 2), performed by Professor Yu Chun Yee, who previously taught at the Royal College of Music in London. As an 18-year-old, Yu won the Singapore Musical Society’s pianoforte competition judged by Julius Katchen in 1955. Here, he plays on the recently refurbished Chappell grand that was once used by international pianists at the Victoria Memorial Hall. The piano, a cheaper replacement for the Memorial Hall's old Steinway grand, has a chequered history.
